How to play Quick Draw
Quick Draw is the drawing game where you draw and an AI guesses. Each game has six rounds. In every round you are given a word, like bicycle, giraffe or light bulb, and you have 20 seconds to sketch it. As you draw, the AI says what it thinks it sees. The moment it names your word, you win the round and move straight on to the next one.
- Press Let's draw! and read your first word.
- Draw it on the canvas with your mouse, finger or stylus.
- Watch the speech bubble: the AI updates its guess as you add lines.
- Use undo or clear if a line goes wrong, or skip a word you can't draw.
- After six words, see all your doodles and how many the AI got.
Tips to get the AI to guess faster
- Draw the iconic version. The AI learned from what most people draw: a house is a square with a triangle roof, a sun has rays.
- Start with the outline, then add the one feature that gives it away: the trunk of an elephant, the neck of a giraffe, the stripes of a zebra.
- Draw big. Use most of the canvas; tiny drawings lose detail.
- Don't write words or letters. The AI only understands pictures.
- Avoid shading and scribbles. Clean single lines are easier to read.
How the Quick Draw AI works
The guesser is a convolutional neural network, the same family of models used for image recognition, trained on hundreds of thousands of doodles from the open Quick, Draw! dataset. Every time your drawing changes, the game shrinks your lines to a tiny 28×28 pixel image, runs it through the network and gets a score for each of the 131 words it knows. The top guesses appear in the speech bubble. Because the model is small and runs on your own device, guesses are instant and nothing you draw is uploaded anywhere.
Quick Draw vs. other drawing games
Quick Draw is a quick solo warm-up: perfect when you have a few minutes. If you like racing the clock, trySpeed Draw, where you draw as many words as you can in 60 seconds. Prefer guessing to drawing? Flip the roles in Guess the Drawing, where real players' doodles appear stroke by stroke and you have to name them. And if you just want a blank page, draw online for free with our sketchpad.

Quick Draw FAQ
What is the Quick Draw game?
Quick Draw is a drawing game where you get a word and 20 seconds to doodle it, while an artificial intelligence watches your lines and tries to guess what you are drawing in real time. If the AI names your word before the timer runs out, you score.
Is this the same as Google Quick, Draw!?
No. This is an independent game by drawinggame.io inspired by the same idea. Our AI was trained on the open Quick, Draw! dataset that Google published under a Creative Commons licence, and it runs entirely in your browser.
How does the AI guess my drawing?
A small neural network looks at a 28×28 pixel version of your doodle and compares it to patterns it learned from hundreds of thousands of drawings by real people. It updates its guess several times per second while you draw.
Is Quick Draw free? Do I need an account?
It is completely free with no sign-up. Your drawings never leave your device: the AI runs locally in your browser.
Can I play Quick Draw on a phone or tablet?
Yes. Draw with your finger or a stylus. It also works with a mouse, trackpad or drawing tablet on a computer.
Why did the AI not recognise my drawing?
The AI knows what most people draw. Simple, iconic doodles work best: draw the most recognisable features (a cat needs ears and whiskers), skip tiny details and fill the canvas rather than drawing very small.
How many words are there?
There are currently 131 different words, from apple and airplane to windmill and zebra, and each game picks 6 at random.
