Laser Mirror Puzzle

Draw mirrors, bend the beam, light every target and dodge the bombs.

Level 1

How to play Laser Mirrors

Laser Mirrors is a draw-a-mirror laser puzzle. A laser on the edge of the board fires a red beam in a straight line. Your job is to steer that beam through every round target by drawing mirrors in its way. Each mirror you draw is a short, two-sided reflective line. The beam bounces off it at exactly the same angle it arrives, just like light off a real mirror, and it is redrawn live as you drag, so you can aim before you commit.

  1. Look at where the laser is pointing and where the targets are.
  2. Drag a line across the beam to place a mirror. Watch the beam bend as you move.
  3. Let go when the reflected beam heads where you want it.
  4. Add more mirrors until every target turns green.
  5. Keep the beam away from bombs and remember that dark walls absorb the light.

Tips for bending the beam

  • Work backwards. Start at the target that seems hardest to reach and ask from which direction the beam could arrive. That tells you where the previous mirror has to sit.
  • Angles are simple. A mirror at 45 degrees to the beam turns it by a right angle. A mirror at 22.5 degrees to the beam turns it by 45 degrees onto a diagonal. Most solutions use a mix of both.
  • Position matters as much as angle. The beam leaves a mirror from the exact spot where it hits it. Slide your mirror along the beam to shift the outgoing ray sideways until it lines up.
  • Targets don't stop the beam. The laser passes straight through a lit target, so one ray can light several targets in a row.
  • Bombs are often in the obvious path. The first bomb is usually placed right where the beam would go if you did nothing, so you must turn the laser early.

The science behind the puzzle

The game uses the law of reflection: the angle at which light hits a flat mirror equals the angle at which it leaves. Periscopes, kaleidoscopes and the laser scanners at supermarket tills all rely on the same rule. Laser and mirror puzzles have been popular for decades in board games and on phones because the rule is easy to learn but planning a beam that bounces four or five times is a real challenge for spatial reasoning.

Levels in this game

There are 36 levels. The first four need a single mirror and teach the controls, then the bombs arrive. From level 5 you need two bounces, and later levels ask for three, four and finally five mirrors, with walls that block the light, more bombs, and extra targets in the middle of the route that force you to follow a precise path. Each level is generated from a fixed seed and built around a planted solution, so every level is solvable and is the same puzzle for every player. Your stars are saved on your device.

Controls on touch screens and desktop

Everything in the game is done with a single drag, so it works the same with a finger, a stylus or a mouse. The mirror appears under your finger as you move and snaps to the nearest useful angle, while the laser is redrawn instantly, so you can fine-tune the angle and position before letting go. A short tap on a mirror removes it again. The dotted grid in the background helps you line up mirrors with the beam, and the bar at the top shows how many mirrors you still have. There is no time limit: plan your route calmly and only commit when the beam looks right.

Laser Mirrors FAQ

How do you play the Laser Mirror Puzzle?

Drag a line anywhere on the board to place a mirror. The laser bounces off it instantly, so you can see where the beam will go while you are still drawing. Bounce the beam through every round target without touching a bomb to complete the level.

Why does my mirror snap to certain angles?

Mirrors snap to steps of 22.5 degrees. That way the beam always travels horizontally, vertically or at 45 degrees, which makes it possible to line up shots precisely, even with a finger on a small phone screen.

How do I remove or move a mirror?

Tap a mirror to remove it, then draw a new one. The bar at the top shows how many mirrors you have left, and the restart button clears the whole board.

What happens if the laser hits a bomb?

The bomb explodes when you let go and the level is lost. While you are dragging a mirror nothing explodes yet, so watch the beam and adjust your line before you lift your finger.

How are stars awarded and is every level solvable?

Every level is built around a known solution with a set number of mirrors, called par. Solve it with par mirrors or fewer for three stars, one extra mirror for two stars. Our tests check the planted solution of all 36 levels.

Can I play on a phone or tablet?

Yes. Draw mirrors with your finger on touch screens or with the mouse on a computer. Progress is saved in your browser and the game is free with no download.
